In this Final Major Project I have planned to design and develop a digital game, the digital game concept that I have generated is a first person perspective, puzzle, horror game set within an abandoned mall. The player will take on the role of a security guard patrolling the mall ensuring that the area is secure. However, one day the guard goes to work and finds that the mall has become overrun with zombies, in an attempt to escape the mall the player must explore the mall killing any zombies in their way all the while the electricity is out. The player will avoid obstacles, solve puzzles and annihilate zombies in their attempt to escape the mall and ultimately survive. I have decided to undertake this project because I feel that I have the relevant skills within my previous work and knowledge to design a digital game in Unreal Engine 5, this can be seen in the show reel that I have attached above. In addition to this, I feel that the project outcome is highly ambitious yet achievable because I will be required to create several planning documents and continually update and amend them to reflect changes within my game idea, although I always carry out and amend planning I feel that this project will require me to focus more on planning as I will be taking on the role as game designer.

In addition to this, I feel that the project concept that I have chosen is highly ambitious because I will be incorporating many mechanics such as pick up items, inventory systems, enemy AI, puzzles and weapons systems, these mechanics will incorporate previous and new knowledge so I feel that this is ambitious because I will be expanding upon my previous knowledge on programming and testing this knowledge to develop the largest outcome that I have developed so far. As you can see from my portfolio attached above I have previously worked with some of these mechanics so a lot of my time will be spent learning and expanding upon these previous mechanics and also learning the skills needed to implement the newer mechanics such as inventory and enhanced enemy AI. Furthermore, I have experience in the documents and planning needed as a game designer so this has helped me to make an informed decision to adopt the digital outcome route for this FMP. 

To expand upon my previous points about the project being ambitious and yet achievable within my skill set and timeframes that I have, I further believe that my concept is ambitious because I will be focusing more on the design of the game and the players experience in the game more than any other project that I have worked on before, this means that I will be pushing myself out of my comfort zone and focusing on the User Experience and ensuring that my outcome is enjoyable and accessible for the user playing it. This is achievable because I have put a lot of work into game design and user experience in my previous projects and will also be doing so in the upcoming research and experimentation. All of this will help to further develop my skills and ensure that my planned outcome is achievable.

When it comes to growing and evolving as a creative professional I hope and plan that this outcome will push my knowledge in game design and more specifically level and narrative design, these are the biggest areas that I hope to grow creatively as I am aiming to attend University as a Bachelor of Game Design. I firstly hope to grow in the area of level design because I feel that this is the most important area of game design, this is because without a level or with an underdeveloped level the game will feel bland and boring for the user, so if I want to continue my role as a game designer in University and hopefully beyond that in a professional studio, I will have to improve and develop my skills in level design. Furthermore, I hope to grow in the area of narrative design, this is a large focus of any game and I feel that I should improve my knowledge and practice within this area, and hope that I can grow with this knowledge to be able to progress to higher education and then onto a role as a game designer within a studio, preferably Rockstar Games as their games are always well developed and polished.
