Problem Solving
Problem Solving - Week 1
During the process of trying to continue to work on my project from home, I have run into a problem, this problem is that my Wi-Fi has become inaccessible and will not allow me to connect to the internet. This should not happen and instead I should be able to connect to the router and internet without fault, because I am on a direct to house super fast fibre optic connection at 500 mbp/s. I believe that I have encountered this problem because there is either a fault with my router or connection, or there may be a fault with the main switchboard that supplies the internet.

I believe that I can fix this by restarting my router and then trying to reconnect. I have tried to carry out this however, I have been met with no luck, so I am to believe that the issue has nothing to do with my router, but the main switchboard, so I have no way of fixing this myself without reporting the issue and waiting for an engineer to fix it.

I managed to fix this issue by reporting it on the main website for my internet provider, however, it being Sunday the problem was not resolved until the evening of Monday. During this time, I attended college on my normal hours and made sure that I enabled offline working on any of my documents so I could continue working at home without the need for internet access. This will also help going forward, as all of my documents are now available offline.

During the process of trying to upload my Project Proposal in a PDF file to my Wix, I have run into a problem, this problem is that the College network has blocked me from embedding a viewer for my Proposal PDF. I have run into this problem before, however, I would have thought that by now they would have fixed the issue and unblock this on the network as it does not go against any of the terms and conditions of the network.

I believe that I cannot fix this because as I have said before this is a college wide server network issue, so the only way I can fix this is by submitting a ticket to tech support and hope that they actually do something to fix this, this time.

I have not managed to fix this issue, however, I have found a work around, instead of embedding the PDF I can use a PDF button that links directly to my file. So going forward, I will continue to use the PDF buttons to present my documents on my Wix site.

Problem Solving - Week 2
During the process of trying to continue to work toward my hand in at College, I have run into an issue with my PC. A pop-up has appeared on my screen asking me to restart my PC to install essential software updates. This has interfered with my work flow as this has blocked my screen and will not disappear unless acted upon.
I believe that I can fix this by closing the pop-up and continuing with my work interruption free, if this fails, restarting my PC may close this message and allow me to work without fault.

I managed to fix this issue by not closing the pop-up as this resulted in it reappearing after thirty minutes, instead I postponed the restart and this allowed me to continue with my work.

Problem Solving - Week 3
During the process of trying to contact my primary sources, I have run into a problem, this problem is that my messages on X will not sync to the server, meaning that no new messages will be sent or received. This should not happen and instead I should be able to both send and receive messages on X. I believe that I have encountered this problem because there is either a fault with my mobile data connection or a fault at X themselves.
I believe that I can fix this by restarting the app and then trying to reconnect to the server. I have tried to carry out this however, I have been met with the same error message, so I am to believe that the issue has nothing to do with my phone, app or mobile connection, but the main server at X.
I did not manage to fix this issue myself, as I later found out on Downdetector and X support the issue arose because a server attack had taken place at X putting the server out of use, however, the issue was resolved later that week and I was able to carry out primary research, in the meantime I carried on with areas that did not require primary sources.
During the process of trying to find sources on the internet, I have run into a very large problem, the problem is that some of the sources on the internet are AI generated. I have found a website that looks to be professional and trustworthy however, after reading the text and images on the source I have found that it was written by an AI bot and so I cannot confirm the integrity of the information. I can not fix this issue however, going forward I will be more careful with what sources I found from the internet and always check the reliability of them.

Problem Solving - Week 4
During the process of trying to work toward my report, I have had a recurrence of my previous abdominal pain. I have taken two days off from college to get into a better state, however, I am worried that I may fall behind the deadline. I can reduce the risk of this happening by sticking to my contingency plan and working from home.
I did not manage to fix this issue, I stuck to my contingency plan and worked toward my report on days that I felt comfortable too. In the end I was still able to meet my expectations and also that of the deadline.
During the process of trying to work back at college on Thursday, I have run into an issue with connection to my research report and Google Docs. I have been met with an error stating that the item is blocked by the admin, I have no idea what this is, but I may be able to fix this by refreshing the page.
I have managed to fix this by doing exactly as stated, refreshing the document, I can now continue working as normal to my research report and hopefully without further issues.

Problem Solving - Week 5
During the process of trying to carry out planning and login to the college PC,I have run into a problem. This problem is that my college PC will not connect to a wired internet connection, meaning that I am unable to access Google or anything that requires internet. This should not happen and instead I should be able to access the internet with no fault.
I believe that I can fix this by restarting the PC and then trying to reconnect to the Internet. I have tried to carry out this however, I have been met with the same error message, so I am to believe that the issue has nothing to do with the PC, but the College network.
I did not manage to fix this issue by the way stated above, as the issue was not network related, instead I found that the LAN cable was not connected to the motherboard of the PC, after connecting it the internet connection worked again.

Problem Solving - Week 6
During the process of trying to carry out updates to my level blueprint and sending this to my college account,I have run into a problem. This problem is that my updated level blueprint will not share over email to my college account and is instead being blocked by the college network. This should not happen and instead I should be able to freely send and receive emails from my personal and college accounts as they are both using the Google suite of apps and I have never had this issue in the past.

I believe that I can fix this by resending the email with the blueprint attached to my college account, in hope that it will not be blocked again. If this fails I will have to find an alternate way to send my blueprint to my college account, this could be through Google Drive or a similar program.

I did not manage to fix this issue by resending the email, and instead was still faced with the same blocked message, however, I did manage to fix this by taking a different route and instead uploaded my blueprint to Google Drive and shared it with my college account through Drive.

During the process of trying to open my Wix site editor to add all of my planning so far to my site, I have run into a problem. This problem is that my Wix editor will not load and is instead stuck on an infinite loading screen. This should not happen and instead I should be able to access an editor where I can rearrange the content on my site without issue.

I believe that I can fix this by reloading the webpage, by doing this the page will refresh and hopefully the loading issue should resolve and I will be able to access the editor.

I managed to fix this issue by carrying out the exact steps stated above, I refreshed the page and then I was able to successfully access the editor and begin uploading my work.

During the process of trying to login to the PC at College, I have run into a problem. This problem is that my PC is carrying out an update and I cannot login successfully until the update has finished. This should not happen and instead all updates to the PC should be carried out outside of working hours.

I do not believe that I can resolve this, apart from waiting for the update to complete and in the meantime continue working on my phone on documents that can be carried out in this format.

Problem Solving - Weeks 7-10
For the four weeks of development I have decided to adopt a different approach to the weekly journals and problem solving, and have chosen to adopt a video format to showcase my work over each week, set targets and to also reflect upon problem solving and show the problem solving in action instead of in a written format. This way you are able to clearly see the problem that I have faced and how I have been able to overcome them, by combining both the journal and problem solving.
Problem Solving - Week 11
During the process of carrying out playtest and review, I have run into a problem. This problem is that I have identified that from my feedback I need to allow the cursor to be shown on the players screen when entering the main menu, but I do not know how to do this in Unreal Engine.

I do not know how I am going to fix this, but it may have something to do with the player controller, I will research into this problem and find any tutorials that could possibly lead me to the solution.

I managed to fix this issue by researching into a source that showed me how to overcome the issue, all that was needed to be done was to change the player controller from the state in the playable game, to a menu UI only state and set the cursor to visible. you can view the process below.

During the process of trying to resolve the issue of the disappearing cursor on the UI, I have run into a second issue, the cursor is now visible but when starting the game the character is not able to be controlled.

I believe that I can fix this by doing the complete opposite in the tutorial that fixed the previous problem and assign the player input controller to the character after hitting the start game button.

I managed to fix this issue by carrying out the exact steps stated above, I reversed the code and applied it to the button and the player was controllable again.

During the process of trying to continue normal College work, I have run into a problem. This problem is that I have a dentist appointment and will miss the first hour of my College day.

I can fix this issue by making up the time for my lost hour in the day after, this shows that I am able to make up for lost time and thanks to my time plan this will be possible.
